Several new partnerships were announced this week between legacy electronic health record vendors and smaller tech firms offering services and capabilities across a variety of clinical and operational use cases.
Allscripts approves third-party referral automation platform for EHR
Allscripts has approved a third-party integration with a patient-provider match tool, ReferralPoint, for use with the Allscripts Professional EHR and Allscripts Practice Management platforms. With the match feature and an Automated Referral Coordinator, Sara, the tool is designed to eliminate manual steps to improve efficiency, reduce patient leakage and costs and enhance the patient experience.
Regardless of the referred to specialists’ EHR system, ReferralPoint says Allscripts users can, with one-click, choose a patient-provider match based on in-network, lowest cost and highest quality providers that align with patient preferences.Â
ReferralPoint credits objective data for its provider and facility rankings and automation for handling authorizations, scheduling and related patient and provider communications. The third-party program also communicates rates to patients, captures their feedback and sends consult notes to referring physicians. Quarterly, it provides an overview of a referral program’s key performance indicators and progress over time.

Fullscript brings the ability for athenaOne users to write and share supplement dosing treatment plans that automatically sync to patient health records.
The company says its medical advisory team vets every brand and has curated 140 evidence-based documents that address patient diet, nutrition and lifestyle to make it easy for physicians to recommend supplements to patients.

Supplements can be searched by ingredients, concentrations or brands and medical practices can change dosage, label instructions and other variables to customize treatment for patients. Automatic refill reminders are another feature designed to streamline refill processing.
Oracle Cerner offers WoundZoom Digital Wound ManagementÂ
Perceptive Solutions, Inc., developer of WoundZoom, has been added to the Cerner App Gallery in order to capture wound data bedside that automatically syncs to patient charts.Â
The tool captures 95% accurate wound measurements, images and assessments to eliminate manual measurement and enhance the sharing of wound care data through the EHR.
The company says its WoundZoom digital wound management tool leverages AI and imaging technology to capture data from smart devices and then automatically prompts and documents appropriate action in Cerner.Â
“The technology integration through Cerner’s validation process enables a secure and reliable data flow from our solution into Cerner’s clinical charts. This enables healthcare facilities to more efficiently share valuable wound care data between both clinical and administrative team members within their HER,” said Mark Lacerte, president of Perceptive Solutions, in a statement.
With 24/7 access, patient wound reports can be read and acted on in real-time. Perceptive’s Clinical Wound Dashboard also provides insights across organizations to help them monitor and improve wound care quality.
